Women’s Senior/Masters in Atlanta January 2021 has been Cancelled

With great regret the WSMRA Board has decided that we must cancel our 32nd Annual Women’s Senior/Masters tournament scheduled for January 15-17, 2021 in the Atlanta area at Recreation ATL in Lilburn, GA. Due to the recent surge in COVID cases nationwide, and travel and quarantine and other restrictions in different parts of the country, there are too many unknowns that make it difficult to see a way to safely hold the tournament at this time. The 32nd edition of the Women’s Senior/Masters Racquetball National Championships will be back in January 2022 at the same venue, better than ever with lots of fun and great competition! Many thanks to tournament Directors Cindy Tilbury and Lynn Fonseca for all the work they have done! Happy Holidays and Stay Safe!

Welcome 35+ Women Racquetball Players!
Join us in Atlanta
Friday through Sunday, January 15-17, 2021

We are excited to have the 32nd Annual Women’s Senior/Masters Racquetball Association (WSMRA) National Championships at the Recreation ATL Club in Lilburn, Georgia!

If you have never played in a WSMRA event, you are in for a treat. Yes, there will be plenty of racquetball. Our round-robin format ensures that you will be playing every day of our three-day tournament. We offer both Open/A competition for top-level players in five-year age increments, and B/C divisions if you aren’t quite as accomplished. You can also expect to meet new friends and connect with old ones. The food will be plentiful and the dancing lively. The Saturday night banquet will be a time for fun awards and slideshows, so make sure you set aside time for it. The rest of the time you are not playing your matches, you will definitely want to explore Atlanta and the surrounding area. For printable information on the tournament and Atlanta, and pictures of prior years’ events, please click here.

Special change because you love your doubles and YOU ASKED FOR THIS! If you prefer not to play singles, we can offer you TWO DOUBLES DIVISIONS. One division must be by age (oldest division is determined by the youngest player of the team) and one doubles division can be by skill level (any group of ages can play together).

Sign up by January 9, 2021. Late registration may be accepted through January 11, for a $20 late fee. We are planning some special opportunities for fun and communion so fly in early! More details on that later.

Your hostesses for the weekend will be Cindy Tilbury and Lynn Fonseca. Feel free to contact us with questions or suggestions or to ask for doubles partners. We have great things planned for you and are working hard to make it the best WSMRA tournament yet!

WSMRA tournaments are organized by the tournament committee, with help from the WSMRA board of directors. Tournament Committee members are Terry Rogers, Merijean Kelley and Paula Sperling. Kendra Tutsch is the president and driving force behind all of the fun.

If you are interested in joining our WSMRA, we hope you will. There is no set membership fee, but any donation is greatly appreciated. Our expenses are low, but we like to do a little fundraising, so every little bit helps. Whether or not you can join us in Atlanta, please consider joining the WSMRA and getting on Kendra Tutsch’s WSMRA mailing list.

One last note: Plan to arrive before 2:00 pm on Thursday to get on the courts to practice, and to join us for Fun Doubles. You will be paired up with and against players, and you may also practice a little with your doubles partner. Directly after that, there will be a player meeting with hot appetizers and cold beverages, followed by a check-in to pick up your player packet and tourney jacket. For travel after the tournament, schedule your flights on Monday (MLK holiday) or late afternoon Sunday.

See you in January!
